What you will be learning as a forensic science major
While you are studying forensic science you will be carefully examining deceased victims in order to figure out any information that might help you to solve a crime. You will be performing molecular and biological testing in order to discover information that wasn’t previously discovered. You will look for certain patterns and analyze these patterns so you can learn about a victim’s past.

If you are planning on getting a forensic science degree, you are going to be responsible for recovering missing links to various crimes. In order to do this successfully you will need a strong understanding of every science. You will be trying to figure out not only what happened at a particular crime scene, but how it happened, when it happened, why it happened, and because of whom.
You’re going to have many functions as a forensic scientist; you’re going to be part pathologist, part dentist, part psychologist, part chemist, part anthropologist, and even part criminologist. You’ll arrive to a crime scene independently and you will contribute your knowledge to everyone at the crime scene. Everyone is going to take what you say very seriously, because in most cases your knowledge is going to contribute to getting a crime solved.
How much money can you earn as a forensic scientist?
The starting salaries for anyone with a forensic science degree is quite good, you can expect to earn between $20,000 and $40,000 when you first leave school. As you gain experience you can earn $80,000 per year or more, especially if you are working in a major city.
